Gli artiglieri all'inizio della guerra non erano considerati militari veri e propri e potevano quindi vestirsi a loro piacimento; dopo il 1696, riuniti in corpo militare e assoggettati alla disciplina, ad essi fu invece fornito un vestito interamente blu con mostre, fodera e calzoni dello stesso colore, con bottoni d'ottone e calze rosse.

I sergenti avevano la veste rosso scarlatto e un gallone oro ai paramani. Il cappello era bordato con gallone dorato. I tamburi portavano la livrea ducale.

ARTILLERY UNIFORMS

The troops of Artillery continued to be equipped with an all blue dress with facings, lining and breeches of the same colour, with brass buttons and red stockings. Sergeants had a scarlet red vest.

The hat was bordered with gilt lace. In 1706 anyhow all artillerymen received red vests and breeches.

Drummers were equipped with a red coat, lined red with red cuffs, while the vest and breeches were blue as for the others. The provost's "arciere" was dressed with a completely white dress and blue vest and breeches.

ORGANIZZAZIONE ARTIGLIERIA

Il corpo di Artiglieria, che aveva ricevuto una definitiva organizzazione nel 1698, era composto da uno stato maggiore e da un battaglione di 4, poi 7, compagnie di cannonieri, una compagnia di artigiani e una di minatori.

Le compagnie erano formate con un capitano, un tenente, 2 sergenti, 2 caporali, 35 cannonieri e 1 tamburo.

In tempi successivi le compagnie raggiunsero la forza di 50 cannonieri e, talvolta, avevano 1 o 2 caporali in aggiunta.

Il treno di artiglieria era ancora capitolato da imprenditori privati, che fornivano gli animali (buoi, muli, cavalli), carrelli ed altro materiale e uomini.

ARTILLERY ORGANIZATION

The corps of Artillery, that had received a final organisation in 1698, was composed of a general staff and a battalion of 4, later 7, companies of cannoniers, one company of artisans, one of miners.

Companies were formed with a captain, a lieutenant, 2 sergeants, 2 corporals, 35 cannoniers and 1 drummer.

At later times they reached the strength of 50 privates and sometimes had 1 or 2 additional corporals.

The train of artillery was still capitulated with private enterprisers, who supplied animals (oxen, mules, horses), carts, other material and men.
